1. Why are there so many different places to get certified?
Coaching is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States because the return on investment clearly demonstrates the value. As a result, many different certification programs have sought to meet the demand. Because no licensing body or government oversight yet exists, it is important to investigate both what is taught in a coach training program, and the ability of the instructor to effectively teach the material. Choosing the right program for you is about choosing what makes sense given your background, experience, budget, time, and what kind of Coaching you plan to provide.

The Center for Coaching Certification offers certification as a Certified Professional Coach after you complete the necessary hours of live and webinar training, and we will continue to be there to answer your questions, provide needed information on the practical aspects of coaching, and guide you through this growing industry. In addition, our graduating coaches are listed on www.findacertifiedcoach.com, a national directory of coaches who have completed professional training and agree to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics in their coaching practices.

2. Why are there several accreditations and what is the Center for Coaching Certification’s approach to accreditation?
With so many organizations offering certification, businesses have started in the interest of providing oversight (and in fact two different ones were started by the same person!) Because there is not oversight, offering accreditation is a business opportunity for these organizations. The Center for Coaching Certification program is approved by the International Coach Federation, and the Center for Coaching Certification is authorized by IACET/ANSI to offer CEUs.

The Center for Coaching Certification values their efforts and looks forward to a time when there is an industry-wide standard. We offer certification that is specifically for the life, business, professional or executive coach, and this certification is granted only upon completion of our intense 30 hour program that includes 5 webinars, training exercises, and hands-on practical coaching sessions under the supervision of the coach trainer, and a case study. Graduates agree to abide by a Code of Ethics and Core Values, and are then eligible to be listed in our national coach database.

3. Why does the cost vary so much?
Each business offering services chooses what to charge based on their expenses and their desired profits; costs vary because each business chooses their rate.

The Center for Coaching Certification recognizes that the majority of our students are already business professionals seeking to enhance their communication and training skills. We dispense with beginner material and cut to the heart of the coaching business with practical, user-friendly, coach trainer-supervised sessions, combined with pre- and post-event webinars, allowing us to charge less than what the vast majority of coach training programs charge, while emphasizing quality instruction, and affording you the opportunity to invest wisely in your continuing education. The full program cost is just $1495 at the Center for Coaching Certification.

4. Why does the amount of time it takes to get “certified” vary so much?
Because there is no oversight for the industry, each business or organization determines the hours based on what they feel is a good price point, what type of coaching they focus on, and how much groundwork they think is needed for participants.

The Center for Coaching Certification recognizes that your time is valuable, so our program is designed to maximize your current education and experience with practical application in a 30-hour format (including webinars, self-directed training exercises, hands-on trainer-supervised practical coaching experience). Extensive resources and follow-up information are provided to expand your knowledge, depending on the career goals you have for your coaching experience.

5. How do I decide which is right for me?
When considering a program, look at the agenda, cost, and the quality of the instruction.

At the Center for Coaching Certification we encourage you to call and speak with the instructor to gain an understanding of the program and ask questions to ensure that we meet your needs.

6. Which skills really matter to effectively coach?
An effective Coach listens well, understands how to work effectively with different personalities, utilizes the power of language, asks questions, and adheres to a strict Code of Ethics and Core Values.

The Center for Coaching Certification masterfully covers each of these topics in our training program, allowing you both to learn and to apply this knowledge in trainer-supervised coaching sessions during your two-day live training experience.

7. What is the difference between Life and Executive Coaching?
Executive Coaching is a term used when working with professionals and focusing on career, corporate, or professional goals. Life Coaching generally includes personal interests such as lifestyle, health, and relationships.
